The Frank Walcott Labour College is excited to offer a range of short courses (6-10 weeks) for 2023. These courses are designed to engage participants in a series of two (2) hour sessions facilitated by industry experts in areas such as law, communication, finance, language, civics, history and many others. This course offers you an easy to follow, theoretical and practical introduction to the key pieces of legislation which govern labour relations in Barbados.
By the end of this course, you should have an understanding of the employment contract, wage entitlements, sexual harassment and legal provisions for preventing such in the workplace, the duties of the employer to provide a safe workplace, the legal provisions for the prevention of discrimination and other areas covered by labour legislation.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify and outline the major legislative provisions which govern employment relations in Barbados.
- Assess the rights and obligations of both employers and employees.
- Outline the legal mechanisms and provisions which exist to address breaches to the employment contract and offer redress or recourse.
- Apply legal concepts and principles to practical scenarios regarding the employment contract.
