It’s no secret that many workers in Barbados are struggling. Despite their hard work and dedication, they often feel undervalued, underpaid, and underappreciated. This can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, and helplessness.
At the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), we understand the challenges that workers face. That’s why we are committed to fighting for their rights and ensuring that they get their fair share. We believe that every worker deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, and we will not rest until this becomes a reality.
While we prefer to resolve disputes through negotiation and discussion, there are times when this is not possible. In these cases, strike action and work stoppages may become necessary.
Our members can count on us to provide support and guidance. We stand with the workers in solidarity and are ready to take action when needed.
In a recent interview, our General Secretary Toni Moore highlighted the actions we are taking to address various issues in different sectors, in addition to giving her views on employers who do not pay into the National Insurance Scheme. She stated that they should be held accountable as this is not just about following the law; it’s about doing what’s right for the workers who rely on this system for their livelihoods. As our General Secretary said in the interview, “lock them up.”
We encourage everyone to watch the full interview to learn more about labor in Barbados and how workers standing together can create real change. We believe that workers are the backbone of our economy, and their well-being is crucial to the success of our country.
